Cool Stuff to Know to increase your enjoyment of candles.
Cold Throw is the smell of an unlit candles, this will slowly decrease over time. You can bring back some of this by rubbing the exterior surfaces of an old candle.
Hot Throw scent comes from the melted wax pool, so it takes time before you should estimate the hot throw. Scent does not survive going through the flame; all of the candles aroma is coming from the melted wax pool. The small travel tins will take about an hour to reach their maximum size wax pool and the larger tins and pillars will take about 2 to 3 hour to reach their maximum size wax pool.
Essential Oils (EO) in these candles provide an exceptional amount of hot throw. EO's scents are more persistent then synthetic fragrances so you will smell the candles aroma in a room longer after the candle is out with EO candles then artificially scented candles.
Mushrooming - Keeping the wick trimmed to less then 1/4 of an inch will help eliminate mushrooming. Scented candles are prone to developing deposits on the ends of the wicks. A very small amount of this is normal and not a concern.
Black Smoke - If you see black smoke it most probably from the candle being in a drafty area, you should move all candle to draft free locations
Tunneling - if you only burn candles for short periods of time they will tunnel and waste a significant portion of the wax around the outside edges. Occasionally you should let a candle develop it's maximum wax pool.
Aroma - Aromatist elemental candles are made with the maximum amount of essential oil that the wax will hold effectively. You may develop a habituation to the smell and not be as aware of the amount of scent in a room. You can leave the room and cleanse your sense of smell by smelling coffee beans. When you return to the room with the candles you will get a better sense of what your guests are experiencing.
